On April 10 at their monthly meeting, the Norwood Citizens on Patrol celebrated 10 successful years. The group was founded in 2007 by a group of Norwood residents who wanted to make their city a better and safer place to live. This group joined forces with the Norwood Police Department and the Norwood Citizens on Patrol was formed.
The group was also honored at a Norwood City Council meeting on April 11. The group was in attendance to be recognized and receive a special resolution passed by council to honor their efforts.
The Norwood Citizens on Patrol walks our streets on a regular basis. They are looking for suspicious occurrences, people and objects; they perform routine house checks of closed homes; report and unusual circumstances to Norwood dispatch; and they clean up graffiti and trash throughout the City. Their goal is to make Norwood a safer and cleaner place and eliminate crime.
