Norwood Police Officers and Resident Honored for Their Life Saving Actions

On Tuesday, June 27, Sergeant Dave Lewis and Officers Ryan Harrison and Brad Chapman of the Norwood Police Department and Norwood Resident Ben Zoky were recognized for their bravery and actions that led to the rescue of an infant from a structure fire. Chief Kramer presented the Norwood Officers with the “Life Saving Award” from the Norwood Police Department and Ben Zoky with a Norwood Police Department Challenge Coin at the Norwood City Council Meeting. They were recognized for their actions at a structure fire on Moeller Avenue on May 20, 2017. The fire was in the basement of an apartment building in the early hours of the morning. Sgt. Lewis was the first to arrive on the scene and he witnessed people leaning out of the second floor of the building, yelling for help. He tried to enter the building to lead them out, but the smoke was too thick and dangerous to continue. He was helped out of the building by Officer Harrison.
