An Online Version of the Norwood Star is now available! Actually we are offering a .pdf file of the issue to be sent via e-mail. This is a separate subscription offer. Those currently receiving the newspaper via mail, will not automatically receive this.
The cost to have a .pdf file sent to you each month via e-mail for one year is $12. We are also offering .pdf files of back issues for $2.00 each. (You'll need to state which issue you want. We cannot be responsible for researching all the issues for a particular story or item).
NOTE: Do understand that the .pdf file is formatted to print as a newspaper and is intended to view on your computer. This is not to say you won't be able to print the file, you'll just need to manipulate the settings yourself.
To subscribe simply go to the Subscribe tab and follow the instructions. In the special instruction section, indicate "online version" or ".pdf files". It is very important that you provide all the contact information requested (e-mail and telephone) in the event we need to reach you.
Requests for .pdf files of back issues should be e-mailed to vicki@norwoodstar.com at this point until we set up a new payment link. Simply request the back issue and I'll either send you a link where you can pay on-line, or you can send a check and once received, we'll e-mail the issue.

We salute Don Parr of the Norwood Fire Department this month. Don joined the Norwood Fire Department in 1989. Don says that he had no thoughts of becoming a fire fighter as he grew up, but he says that it is the best decision he has made.

George “Yatz” Shafer had been serving patrons of Shafer's Tavern of Norwood for 58 years, when he sold the tavern and went into retirement.
Shafer started bartending at Shafer's, then known as Simon's Tavern, in 1940.
